Inkjet Recycling Programs

It is no secret just how expensive owning and operating a printer can be. There are many costs associated with upkeep and simply maintaining the devices, and few things are more expensive the inkjet ink or laser toner cartridges. In fact, these products might be some of the most expensive things you every buy, pound for pound.

A recent study actually showed that inkjet ink costs roughly as much as a top shelf vintage champagne, by volume. With such high class beverages costing in the thousands of dollars, or more, it may seem very surprising to hear this. But in fact the average printer cartridges actually only contain somewhere around a fifth of an ounce of ink.

A great way to help bring these outlandish costs down is to recycle your used ink and toner cartridges. There are two main ways that this can be done. First, you can try your local business that sells printers and printer related goods. Many of these stores have recycle bins especially for used up cartridges and will recycle the products for you. Although this can be a very easy option (just return spent cartridges when you go in to buy new ones), it may not be the best.

If you like to buy refills before your ink runs out, like many people do, recycling online may be your best bet. Not only do many websites give you envelopes to mail in your cartridges for free, most of these websites actually reimburse you for your recycled goods. This reimbursement usually comes in the form of either cash or rebates for future purchases. The value of these returned cartridges can vary greatly, from around a dollar to twenty times that, or even more in certain cases. This can make saving money coincide with helping to save the environment, and thatÂ’s good for everyone.
